Our Mission

The Coosada 911 Communications District is dedicated to providing reliable, efficient, and professional emergency communication services for the Town of Coosada, Alabama. We ensure that when residents and visitors need help, emergency services can respond quickly and effectively.

What We Do

The district operates as a specialized emergency communications service provider for the Town of Coosada, Alabama, coordinating 911 calls and emergency dispatches for:

  • Coosada Police - Law enforcement dispatch and communication services
  • Coosada Fire/Rescue - Fire and rescue dispatch and communication services
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) - EMD-certified dispatchers with Telephone CPR training, dispatching Coosada Fire/Rescue's licensed transport ambulance

The district is staffed by 11 public safety telecommunicators who provide 24/7/365 coverage, ensuring that emergency calls are handled promptly and routed to the appropriate first responders in the Town of Coosada, Alabama at all times.

Current and Future 911 Call Handling in Coosada

At present, 911 calls originating within the Town of Coosada are initially answered by Elmore County Emergency Communications / 911 and then transferred to the Coosada 911 Communications District for local handling.

In the near future, the Coosada 911 Communications District will begin taking 911 calls directly once it is fully connected to the Alabama AGEN ESInet and authorized by the Alabama 911 Board. This transition will mark a significant advancement in emergency communications capability for the Town of Coosada and the surrounding community.

An Emergency Communications District (ECD) is a governmental entity authorized under Alabama law to establish, operate, and maintain emergency communication systems, including 911 services. ECDs are created to ensure that communities have reliable, professional emergency dispatch services that coordinate between callers and first responders.

ECDs serve as the critical link between residents and emergency services, providing:

  • 24/7 emergency call answering and dispatch services
  • Coordination between multiple emergency service providers (police, fire, EMS)
  • Professional training and certification for dispatchers
  • Modern communication technology and infrastructure
  • Compliance with state and federal emergency communication standards

District Establishment

The Coosada 911 Communications District was established in accordance with the Code of Alabama to provide dedicated emergency communication services for the Town of Coosada, Alabama. The district operates under the authority granted by Alabama state law to ensure the highest quality emergency communication services for our community.

The FCC awarded PSAP #8914 to the Coosada 911 Communications District on December 31, 2025, per the 911 Master PSAP Registry.
